WHO AM I?

At the age of 17, I’ve been called by so many names
People around me has this habit of putting labels on me like a sash
Treating me poorly as if I am a trash
With so many names being linked on me, who am I really?
They called me a “whore” for I am stripping myself naked through writing poetries;
Someone labeled me “fake” for I smile even though I’m in pain
Another one said that I am “evil” for cutting people out of my life- not knowing my reasons for doing so
“Boastful” they say, for I am so proud about the people that stays with me through thick and thin
Once, I am accused by my classmate for being competitive just because I refused giving my answers to her
Do you know why I refused that day? Because I want you to learn to be on your own and not to depend on others; but you took it the wrong way, and I’m the one to apologize
Most of you are secretly whispering “I hate her” under your breaths, and I want you to know that I already knew it and I’m not going to buy it
They say, “the people around you are your mirrors”;
Are they really my mirrors?
What’s that supposed to mean?
Mirrors supposed to reflect the doings of the other, right?
But why are there scowls on their faces while I’m smiling?
Happiness in their eyes, while tears on mine?
The warmth of the acceptance, while I’m being masked by the coldness of rejection?
With the names you’re calling me
Hitting me everyday with the reality;
That I am an abomination on this society
Does it make y’all happy?
I have a name, but you christened me with those filthy words
I gave y’all the love I can give, and all I’ve got are the stares and hands- pushing me to the edge
Now, I am at the front of the mirror;
Looking at the girl, with a question running in her head, ” WHO AM I?”
